Abstract

The presence of insects and mice in the hospital environment offer risks to patients and health professionals, as they can transmit diseases. The present work aims emphasize the importance of controlling pests and disease vectors in hospital settings, identifying the most common pests and vectors, the measures of prevention and control and expose sanitary legislation. Was performed an exploratory research, literature and documents on the theme. After collecting data, we describe some aspects of pests and vectors (ants, cockroaches, flies, mosquitoes and rats), preventive measures and control (emphasis in hindering the proliferation of these animals) and legislation pertinent sanitary. Finally, we describe in the present study importance of permanent control of pests and vectors in hospitals and actions of sanitary surveillance in inspecting these environments.
