Abstract

The occurrence of gallstones in dogs is rare, consisting, usually, in accidental findings. The animals affected present nonspecific clinical signs or even may be asymptomatic. However, depending on the localition of the stone, can occur total obstruction of bile flow and cause rupture of gallbladder or bile ducts. The imaging exams, such as radiography and/or abdominal ultrasonography, and their correct interpretation are fundamental for evaluation of biliary system. The objective of the present review is a description of the radiographic images and ultrasonographic characteristics of cholelithiasis and choledocolithiasis in dogs.
