Abstract

The daily average weight gain consists in important tool in the monitory of the performance of bovines kept in feedlot, considering the use of the aliments offered. In this way, the aim was to evaluate the average weight gain of differents genetics groups of beef cattle submitted to finish beef in feedlot system. It was used information’s provided by 17.704 males bovines, non-castrated of three diferents genetic groups, being Nelore, Aberdeen Angus e Montana breed. All of the animals were fed with the same diet and kept in feedloot by 124 days until the slaughter. The data was analysed by the Statistical Analysis System program and the means was compared by the use of Tukey test (p<0.05). The daily average weight gain was 1.50 kg/day, 1.33 kg/day and 1.43 kg/day, for the genetic groups Aberdeen Angus, Nelore and Compound Montana respectively. Could be found superiority in the performance, measured by the daily average weight gain, of animals from de Aberdeen Angus group, in detriment to the others two groups.
