Abstract

This report aimed to provide information about the pathological features of copper intoxication. The most common occurrence of copper intoxication in sheep is related to the ingestion of concentrate and mineral supplements intended for cattle. It was presented to the HVGA-UFLA a Dorperram, one-year-old and weighing 50 kg, coming from a herd of 800 sheep from Lavras, Minas Gerais. Ruminants, especially sheep, are quite susceptible to cupric poisoning because the safety margin between normal and potentially toxic levels is very small.
