Abstract

The study was conducted to evaluate calving interval (CI) in Nellore, using 981 observations of calving interval (whose products were 684 females and 684 males) of 387 Nellore matrices belong to the Farm Retreat, located in Viçosa, Zona da Mata Alagoas, raised on pasture and the comments are for the period 1997 to 2004. We proceeded to statistical analysis using the program and SISVAR SAEG for correlations with the effects of environment. There was no significant effect of sex, year and interactions between sex and sex x year and quarter over the interval between births. The average interval between births was found to be 430.9 days and was influenced only by the factor quarter. Were observed at longer intervals (449.4 days) in cows that calved from July to September and lowest (409.3 days) January to March. Although there was no significant difference, cows that calved females showed calving interval by quarters higher than those calving males.
