Abstract

The objective of this study was to estimate the prevalence of mastitis in dairy herds located in the Palmas-TO Micro region. The research was developed in 13 farms belonging to the Palmas micro region. Samples were collected from the four mammary quarters of 200 lactating cows for the Tassel Cup Test, California Mastitis Test (CMT) and the Somatic Cell Count Test (CCS). Together with the field and laboratory tests, a questionnaire was applied containing questions related to the sanitary, nutritional and reproductive management of each property. In view of the results it can be stated that mastitis is present in most of the herds of the municipality of Palmas - TO.
