Abstract

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) arises from squamous epithelium cells and is the most common type of skin tumor diagnosed in felines. Squamous cell carcinomas are often diagnosed in cats exposed to sunlight, with fair skinned cats being more predisposed. The diagnosis can be made by histopathological analysis. Imaging tests such as abdominal ultrasound, chest radiography, echocardiography and tomography are essential for staging and prognosis. Chemotherapy, cryosurgery and electrochemotherapy are therapeutic modalities for the disease. The objective of this work was to report a case of squamous cell carcinoma, in the nasal plane, refractory to cryosurgery and electrochemotherapy treatments. Treatment consisted of surgical removal and metronomic chemotherapy with cyclophosphamide and piroxicam.
