Abstract

The objective of this present work was to report the case of a patient, feline, female, 1 year and 7 months of age, spayed, mongrel, vaccinated, rescue, that was committed with a gastrointestinal infection caused by Campylobacter spp., in the Federal District. During the anamnesis, a recent history of emesis and diarrhea was noted. Posteriorly, an abdominal ultrasound was performed, which identified alterations compatible with pancreatitis and gastritis. After treatment, there was temporary remission of the clinical signs of vomiting and diarrhea, which posteriorly was refractory to various treatments. A new ultrasound was performed to verify if the pancreatitis and gastritis treatment was effective, but there weren't alterations that justify the new diarrhea condition. Therefore, stool PCR was performed to search for pathogens linked to diarrhea in felines, and the presence of Campylobacter spp. was identified. The treatment with immunomodulators was increased, which was effective, with clinical signs disappearing in 10 days.
