Abstract

Swimming puppy syndrome or myofibrillary hypoplasia is an uncommon disorder in the small animal clinic. Affected animals become unable to remain upright and to move around as expected for the developmental stage. The present study aims to describe the case of a 50-day-old American Bully dog with a diagnosis suggestive of swimming pup syndrome. The patient was referred for consultation due to abduction of the thoracic limbs, a simple radiograph was requested, which was suggestive of myofibrillar hypoplasia. In view of the situation, treatment was started with the use of bandages, obtaining a satisfactory response.
