Abstract

Cassava (Manihot esculenta crantz) is a plant originally from South America, mainly from the Amazon region, which has been cultivated in several countries due to its wide adaptation. The industries concerned with the processing of cassava for the manufacture of flour and starch, located mainly in the south and southeast of Brazil, generate solid and liquid residues with a high polluting capacity, which has resulted in a great impact on the environment. Currently, animal production suffers from the high cost of food, mainly due to the fluctuation of grain prices in the market. As a way of reducing environmental pollution and animal production costs, there is the use of residues from cassava processing in animal feed. This bibliographic review aims to highlight the use of the main by-products of the cassava processing industry, as a substitute for corn, in the broiler feed.
