Abstract

Umbilical hernias are very common in dogs, a common complication of this anomaly when the hernia becomes too large is the incarceration or strangulation of intestinal loops. It was attended at the Veterinary School Clinic Prof. Marcos Vinicius Tranquilim (CEVET), from the State University of the Center-West (UNICENTRO), a male, approximately eight months old male presenting with congenital intestinal fistula in a region of umbilical hernia. Soon after the care the animal was referred to the surgical procedure, which was successfully performed and the animal recovered completely. The immediate surgical procedure was of great importance for the recovery of the patient, since there was still no fecal matter in the abdominal cavity.
