Abstract

Vaginal prolapse is defined as the projection of the vaginal wall to the outside by the vulvar rim. The causes related to the occurrence are diverse, however, some predisposing factors stand out such as relaxation of the vaginal fixation system, increased intra-abdominal pressure, anatomical defects, hormonal disorders (high estrogen content), obesity, inflammation in the vulvar region, elderly females and hereditary predisposition. It can be classified as partial or total, or by stages depending on the evolution of the prolapse. The objective of this report was to describe a case of stage 3 prolapse, as well as different therapeutic measures. The Buhner suture has been the most recommended surgical therapy, but prophylactic measures are needed to reduce the incidence in the herd.
