Abstract

The objective of this study was to report a case of canine ocular papillomatosis in a four-year-old female Golden Retriever treated at a veterinary hospital. The patient presented with multiple warts in the ocular region, diagnosed as papillomas after histopathological examination. After surgical removal of the lesions, recurrence occurred. Therefore, a multimodal therapeutic approach was chosen, which included hemotherapy, Thuja tincture, and thymomodulin administration. Hemotherapy was applied with the aim of stimulating the local immune response by reintroducing the animal's own blood into the lesions. Thuja tincture, a medicinal plant with immunomodulatory and antiviral properties, was used topically twice a day. Thymomodulin, a systemic immunomodulatory agent, was administered orally at a dose of 176 mg/day to strengthen cellular immunity. After one month of treatment, the dog showed significant improvement, with complete regression of the lesions and discharge from medical care. The combined approach was effective in controlling ocular papillomatosis, demonstrating that the integration of immunomodulatory techniques can be a promising alternative for the treatment of persistent viral infections in dogs.
