Behavioral disorders and diseases of the feline lower urinary tract are one of the main conditions that take owners to the veterinarian, some of these diseases being feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC), urethral plug, urolithiasis and neoplastic infections. Our objective was to report a case of idiopathic cystitis in a feline. A mixed breed male feline, weighing 4.1 kg, 6 years old, was treated. During the anamnesis, the animal presented dysuria, emesis, anorexia, apathy lasting at least 3 days, and these symptoms were recurrent. The patient was probed and a urine sample was collected and cultured for antimicrobial agent sensitivity testing. Additional tests were requested: complete blood count, biochemical tests and abdominal ultrasound. In the hematological evaluation, the patient presented leukocytosis with neutrophilia and monocytosis. Regarding the findings in the biochemical analyses, a slight increase in albumin values and significant changes in creatinine, phosphorus and urea were observed. In the ultrasound examination, cystitis with an obstructive process was observed where the bladder was gorged, filled with anechoic contents an echogenic material in suspension, with thickened and regular walls, showing dilation of the urethra and absence of lithiasis. In the culture examination, no bacterial growth was observed. It is concluded that the results of the hematological and biochemical tests and compatible clinical signs made it possible to diagnose the patient with idiopathic cystitis with urethral obstruction.
