Abstract

Angular cheilitis is characterized by an inflammatory process, involving laboratory commissures, with mechanical factors among its triggers, being little affected in animals. The objective was presented in a clinical case involving a clinic at the Veterinary Clinic of PUCPR, campus Toledo. The animal arrived at the clinic with a lesion on the left lower lip, firm consistency and without involvement of bones or teeth. The definitive diagnosis was made through the history and complementary exams (histopathological and cultural fungal). Histopathological examination of the lesion revealed angular trauma cheilitis due to recurrent consumption of Brachiaria decumbens. Through fungal culture, it was possible to diagnose or develop a secondary zygomycosis caused by Mucor racemosus. This work demonstrates the importance of the correct diagnosis of diseases in the veterinary clinic, as well as the presentation of a rare disease not yet related to the sheep species.
