Cystic enteric duplication

Cystic enteric duplication is a rare congenital malformation that can occur anywhere in the alimentary tract. This alteration has already been reported to occur in humans, dogs and cats, but its symptoms are non-specific. Ultrasound is the preferred imaging test for diagnosis, with contrast-enhanced radiography, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging exams being able to help, as well as histological evaluation to confirm the suspicion. There are few reports and studies regarding the occurrence of cystic intestinal duplication, reinforcing the need for further investigation on the matter.
