We describe a case of peritoneal, pleural and scrotal malignancy in a 3.5-year-old Nellore bull, housed in a semen collection and processing center (SCPC) in Brazil. The animal showed an increase in volume and sensitivity to palpation of the scrotum. An ultrasound examination was performed, and a large amount of anechoic content was detected in the left scrotal cavity. Thus, unilateral castration was indicated, and samples were taken for histopathological examination, where a malignant spindle cell neoplasm, morphologically suggestive of spindle cell mesothelioma or poorly differentiated spindle cell sarcoma, was detected. The bull was referred back to the veterinary hospital 30 days after discharge with edema on the remaining side of the scrotum, inappetence and weight loss. Paracentesis and laparotomy were performed to collect material for histopathological examination. The condition motivated the decision for euthanasia. The anatomopathological examination identified the following macroscopic alterations: signs of diffuse metastatic mesothelioma; focally extensive pleuritis; testicular neoplasia and fibrosis; mild multifocal ulcerative typhlitis; hydrothorax and hydroperitoneum. This is the first case report of generalized malignancy in a semen donor bull at an SCPC in Brazil.
