This study gathered relevant technical-scientific articles, 19 of which were chosen based on this context. Thus, the article was written taking the basic and essential points of this disease, increasing knowledge on the topic for students and professionals, encouraging the continuity of research on the theme and continuous improvement. Patent ductus arteriosus is a common cardiac disease in veterinary medicine, especially in dogs. Overall, when it is treated, there is a high probability of cure. In order to make the best decision, it’s necessary to know the diagnosis, classification and correction techniques. Otherwise, the prognosis is quite reserved, so it is important to elucidate doctors on the importance of clinical investigation in puppies for an early diagnosis.
