Correction of traumatic cleft palate associated with mandibular fracture in a feline: Case report

When palatal defects caused by trauma interrupt the separation of the oral and nasal cavity, adequate surgical techniques 1are essential for anatomical reconstruction. This is a report on a case of secondary cleft palate due to trauma and mandible fracture, the first being surgically corrected using the sliding bipedicle flap technique (Von Langebeck technique), consisting of relief with staphylorrhaphy and fracture reduction with the interdental tie technique with acrylic resin. The techniques proved to be effective in closing the cleft palate and reducing the fracture, combined with adequate postoperative care.
