Abstract

This investigation aimed to verify the profile and preference for egg consumption in the city of Pedro Juan Caballero. A type of survey was implemented, with the sample consisting of 140 people. The results showed that 62.2% of the interviewees were female, with 49.3% of age between 15 and 35 years old, with 80,0% being university students and 74.3% receiving a minimum wage. In total, 97.9% confirm consuming the egg. In choosing, the color of the eggshell does not influence the age, sex, education and income level of the interviewees. However, according to sex, education, the color of the skin exhibited influence in the quality. The consumption of eggs according to the respondents' education is related to some diseases. According to the research, it is shown that the egg is part of the daily diet of the population, however, the belief about its relationship with some diseases persists, despite being refuted by science, a situation that must be addressed through marketing strategies to avoid this perception.
