Abstract

A study was carried out to verify if there is an association between the occurrence of cutaneous mast cell tumors and atopic dermatitis in segments attended from 2014 to 2018, with the case series of the Veterinary Hospital of the Universidade Vila Velha. Of the 26 dogs with mast cell tumors, 15 (58%) were also atopic (nine (60%) were neutered females and six (40%) were males. castrated). Of the others, that is, 11 animals (42%), six (55%) were females and five (45%) were males. It was then observed in this research that atopic animals were the ones that most often had mast cell tumors, suggesting an association between the two diseases. The studies obtained in this study reinforce an association between them, since most animals with cutaneous mast cell tumors also had CAD (=15), as they found five animals or more Favrot criteria, unlike the control group, with four epithelial neoplasms (Squamous cell carcinoma). squamous cells, basal cell carcinoma, trichoblastoma and trichoepithelioma) in which no animal (n=16) presented associated CAD.
