Abstract

It is a case reports of a purebreed Aberdeen Angus bull, of imported origin, 36 months old which presented semen with good initial motility (average of 68%) and when submitted to freezing, had reduced motility to very low levels (average of 15%). In the morphological study in phase contrast microscopy and stained by the Cerowsky method, small cracks were found along the mitochondrial sheath and fractures in the midpiece of sperm. In the exhaustion test, there were not changes in sperm motility and morphology, suggesting a probable testicular origin for these defects.
