Abstract

The objective of this work was to understand the impacts that the fingerlings Oreochromis niloticus and Colossomoma macropomum feel when transported in plastic bags, reporting the effect of time and density according to the results obtained in the analyzed works. As this is a literature review, seven articles published between 2000 and 2021 were selected, which discuss the physiological impacts of fingerlings when transported in plastic materials. This is because the water conditions and the transport period can directly affect the life span of the fingerlings, since the hydrogenic potential - pH, water quality and physiological factors are directly affected. Thus, the period of contact of the fingerlings in the plastic container, according to the studies, cannot exceed 8 consecutive hours, since changes in pH, temperature and dissolved oxygen interfere with the survival capacity of the specimens. Therefore, the zootechnician needs to understand the maximum period that a fingerling can remain in a plastic container and advise on changing the container if it takes longer than 8 hours to reach the destination.
