Abstract

The measurements of the diameters of pelvis, obtained directly on the radiographic film, are known as radiographic pelvimetry. This technique, which allows determine the pelvimetric pattern for each breed, serves as a subsidy for prophylactic methods against complications that may occur during the parturition, and allows the classification of anatomical and obstetric pelvis. The objective of this review article is to present the importance of performing the technique of radiographic pelvimetry for being an efficient, low cost and simple implementation, that provides detailed investigations of the anatomy and the establishment of relations in obstetric pelvic breeding females, classifying them as suitable or not for breeding.
