Abstract

Hepatic character can have acute or chronic. There are several causes of liver failure in dogs, but the chronic liver diseases in advanced stages leading to severe complications occur along most of the time to hospitalization and even death of patients. Meet the major complications in patients with severe hepatic impairment becomes necessary to make quick decisions and effective maintenance of quality of life of the animal terminal. Hepatic encephalopathy, edema, and ascites and hepatorenal syndrome are the main complications of severe liver failure in dogs. This article aims to present important aspects in the veterinary medical practice, these three conditions, with emphasis on diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
