Abstract

The objective was to characterize and evaluate the physical and chemical properties of soils under pastures in the south of Tocantins. The study was conducted in areas with degraded pastures located in the municipality of Gurupi Fazenda Chaparral. Data analysis of the experiment was performed by using classical statistical analysis of variance and subsequent test of means depending on the level of pasture degradation (1, 2 and 3) in the same area of soil class and in relation to the depths of (0 -10 cm, 10-20 cm, 20-30 cm) in a 3x3 factorial arrangement from the physical variables: total porosity, particle density, bulk density. Data were subjected to analysis of variance and comparison of means by Tukey test at 5% probability. It was observed that soil density and penetration resistance increases and porosity decreases with increasing stages of degradation of pasture.
