Abstract

Intestinal parasites establish a series of reactions in the body of the host that trigger in frequent illnesses, which are difficult to control by public agencies and attack humans without restriction. These diseases are observed in both children and adults, independent of sex and social class, are detected both in rural as in urban areas, and are widely distributed geographically. Amebiasis is an infectious disease caused by the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica, which is considered an important cause of morbidity and mortality in man. This research aimed at diagnosing the Incidence of Entamoeba histolytica / Entamoeba dispar in a public school in the District Alto Bonito in São Miguel do Tocantins, Tocantins, Brazil and assess the socioeconomic profile and hygienic population addressed. Were performed 50 Examination of stools with the fecal samples of children of that school using the method of spontaneous sedimentation or Hoffman, Ponz and Janer. The overall incidence of positivity for complex Entamoeba histolytica / Entamoeba dispar population studied was 32% (16), where the highest frequency occurred in males, with 34.61% (9) versus 29.16% (7) sex female, however it is noted that almost the same percentage for these subsets. Regarding the age of children was prevalent infection with Entamoeba histolytica / Entamoeba dispar among children in three (37.5%) and four (38.9%) years with nearly equal intensities. The results are a reflection of the questionnaire administered to parents or guardians for the students as an interview, where the data tabulated show the urgency of taking measures that qualify a continued investment by the public sector in health, infrastructure, starting with investments in sanitation and education policies aimed at empowerment and eradication campaigns to combat intestinal parasites starting with the school, which certainly leads to a higher quality of life for the residents of the municipality focus of research.
