Abstract

Control of consumption or fecal production, essential to experimentation with ruminants, in some situations such as inadequate facilities, grazing conditions or values of partial digestion, shows it is not possible. In such cases, the use of indicators makes it possible to measure these parameters. There are several indicators, titanium dioxide (TiO2) appears as an indicator able to estimate accurately fecal output in digestibility trials, and does not have carcinogenic properties. The authors review the use of TiO2 as a method for estimating fecal production in ruminants
