Abstract

Facing the importance of animal products to the Brazilian economic scenery, is always actual and constant to seek for scientific and technological innovations with economic and practical results that should be applied in animal production system or other animal production chain. Through the scientific experimentation, researchers can use many methodological tools for reaching better yield indices based on reliable and solid results. Among these tools, statistical methods aid to test hypothesis and to interpret observed results in a specific study, following the scientific principles. This document aimed to summarize the basic principles of scientific experimentation and descriptive statistical analysis which underline and help to plan scientific studies, focusing on animal science. Thus, this material contains information that should be useful for students, technical staffs and researchers with interest in a basic and practical guide for animal science experimentation.
