Abstract

This study was realized to evaluate the blood count as a possible indicator of stress in dogs treated at pet shops in the city of Patos – PB. For the research, blood samples were collected from 50 dogs clinically healthy of different races, ages and genders in two stages: before and after the animal care, comparing the blood test results in two moments. It aimed to draw a blood profile, under the influence of stress experienced by the animal. Such an assessment was used to identify the level of stress to which the animal was tested. The means of the variables of the erythrocyte and leukocyte number were higher in the previous time the procedure in relation to the time after the procedure, but this difference was not statistically significant. Quantitative changes resulting from stress on CBC dogs undergo sanitization processes and grooming were did not observe.
