Abstract

The enterolithis are solid formation originating from ingested fibrous food or foreign bodies by the animal, generating a cumulative aggregation deitar component in the large intestine, preferably on folds, culminating in rigid and bulky fragments which can lead to obstruction and dilatation of the affected segment. The presence of enterolith is related to frequent way to cases of colic in horses, usually taking an emergency basis, where the treatment consists of the extraction of the fragments by surgical methodology by the administration of drugs for control of concomitant clinical signs. The curative and corrective measures should be carried out with clinical precision and timely, because the picture can quickly be compounded and lead the animal to death.
