Abstract

The dispersion pattern of the parasites has been considered of great importance for the population dynamics of the host-parasite relationship. This work reports the first record of the monogenetic parasite Scomberocotyle scomberomori in the host Serra spanish mackerel, fish of the Scombridae family. The results showed a low prevalence (4.70%) of the S. scomberomori parasite in the chamber branchial of the new host (Serra spanish mackerel - Scomberomorus brasiliensis).
