Lymphoma in a feline with renal infiltration: Case report

Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) has factors that directly affect the hematopoietic tissue leading to a predisposition to lymphoma, which is the most common neoplasm in felines. The diagnosis is obtained through physical and clinical examinations of the patient and complementary tests, such as imaging tests, hematimetry and histopathology. A DSH feline, male, neutered, approximately 8 years old, positive for FeLV with emesis, prostration, anorexia and progressive weight loss was examined. On physical examination, the patient was moderately dehydrated and a palpable mass in the abdominal region was noted, in addition to renomegaly in the right kidney. Complementary imaging, hematological and urine tests revealed suspicion of lymphoma and changes in renal function. The patient was staged at stage III chronic kidney disease and substaged as normotensive. The tutor chose not to continue the treatment, euthanasia was performed and an autopsy was authorized, where the suspicion of lymphoma in the mesenteric region was confirmed, encompassing a lymph node with infiltration in the duodenum and both kidneys. The objective of the present study is to report the case of a feline, diagnosed with lymphoma and to describe its association with kidney damage caused after signs of metastatic infiltration.
