Abstract

In the last decades, the teaching of veterinary medicine has been transforming and creating new strategies in order to improve the abilities of students and future professionals. In light of the importance of equine abdominal auscultation and the benefits that simulation methods provide for learning, the development of a mannequin that simulates the auscultation sites and the sounds of intestinal borborygmus (hypermotility, normomotility, hypomotility, motility of the cecum) in an interactive and efficient way was thought up. The equine mannequin integrates a hardware system composed of two boards that enable its activation and control through buttons and an Android system application via bluetooth. This work is a tool that provides the enrichment of practical classes, evaluative activities and simulations of clinical cases, thus enabling greater confidence and preparation of students for future care.
