Abstract

With increasing deforestation and urbanization, wild animals have increased their presence in cities, a situation that has generated conflicts with humans and risks to the preservation of these species. Thus, this work consists of a study on the presence of coatis (Nasua nasua) in urban areas, focusing on the municipality of Águas de São Pedro (SP, Brazil), with the objective of raising awareness of some situations related to the increase in the number of these animals in the city and identifying its main impacts within a One Health perspective. In addition, we aim to analyze how the municipality has managed the issue, and propose actions that contribute positively to solving the problem. In this way, we aim to collaborate with the public administration, promote people's awareness and encourage the continuation of research on the subject, combining sustainable development and the protection of the local biodiversity. Thus, our aim is to reinforce the idea that human, animal and environmental health are inseparable in the complete well-being of all parties involved.
