Abstract

Severe spinal trauma may lead to vertebral fractures resulting in varying degrees of neurological impairment. The absence of deep pain perception is commonly associated with spinal cord injury and is considered a marker of guarded prognosis. In this context, veterinary physiotherapy, particularly kinesiotherapy, has been increasingly used as a supportive therapeutic approach in neurorehabilitation. This report describes the case of a female cat with a thoracolumbar vertebral fracture that began rehabilitation 42 months after the initial injury. The case highlights the potential role of physiotherapy in chronic neurological patients with guarded prognosis, particularly regarding functional support and quality of life improvement.
